CHOOSE THE Tyre VAN CAMPER AND THE CARAVAN Tyre PROPERLY
MOST COMMON TERMS, DRAWINGS AND ICONS ON THE TYRE SHOULDERS FOR VEHICLES FOR LIGHT TRANSPORT:
Tires marked with PR (MULTITELA / COVERING LAYERS) = Displays the loading capacity index of a tire, in which a numerical value is shifted to the prefix “PR” (e.g. PR4). A high PR indicates a larger loading capacity of the rubber. When using the cotton cloth, the actual number of layers was given. However, the number of layers decreased considerably as highly resistant fabrics such as rayon, nylon and polyester were introduced. Consumers who were used to using a tire with so many layers saw that after the arrival of the high-strength fabric, the number of layers decreased. However, they began to ask how many layers of old cotton corresponded to one layer of the new fabric. To answer this question, the use of a tire loading capacity index (PR) was started. A PR 6 does not mean that a tire actually has 6 outer layers, but that the rubber has the same strength as six outer layers. For example, the loading capacity index can be specified as PR-6 or with the alphabetical letter “C” in the extended area (see table below).
Marked tires “C” (CARGO) = Usually the code is in front of the tire diameter and indicates the approval after tests on the market for vans and light transport vehicles
Marked tires “CP” (CAMPER) = Usually the code is in front of the tire diameter and indicates the approval after tests for the camper, caravan and caravan market
